Emma's Buggy

Walkers are banned here but our neighbor bought one in the states and let us borrow it. Emma is a fan. :)

Kitchen Adventures: Solid Food!

Emma is 6 months old so that means we get to start solid-ish foods. We started today with puréed carrots. She was... less than thrilled. :)

Happy Birthday G-Ma!

Emma and I had a blast trying to get the picture of G-Ma's birthday card. Happy Birthday G-Ma! I can't wait to see you in 15 days-ish!

Emma - 6 Months Old

The photo sessions keep getting more challenging... she's so active!!

I can't believe it's her half birthday... 6 months went by so quickly. The most surprising thing is that the last few weeks Emma has had leaps and bounds in her development. She can pretty much get to where she wants to go by rolling and scooting along - not full on crawling yet. She bum rocks frequently. She cut 2 teeth in the last 2 weeks and she's mostly stable sitting up. Not to mention the "first contact" we had. The changes just keep on coming.

For most of the photo session, she was like this. :P

Deep thinker...

..."are you done mommy?"

Emma These Days

Busy. Everything goes in her mouth. If it has a tag, you can't pry it out of her hands. She can sit on her own but occasionally gets too excited and falls over. :P

First Contact

I remember the first Emma smiled at me... the first time she responded to some sign language (when we sign "food" or "more", she will smile when she wants to say yes)... the first time she laughed when Ian tossed her around. But this was different. Emma played peekaboo with me. Totally random. I was looking at a book. She was sitting next to me. I noticed she was pulling at the blanket that her toys were sitting on. This is what happened next. First contact. :)

New Diaper Storage

We've run out of places to keep diapers downstairs. Emma seems to get into everything!

Kitchen Adventures: Crispy Beef Lettuce Wraps

This was our first Gordon Ramsay Ultimate Cookery Course recipe. Delicious with a capital D.

Ingredients: Ground Beef, Ground Pork, Garlic, Red Chilies, Brown Sugar, Fish Sauce, Lime, Green Onions, Gem Lettuce, Sesame Oil, Soy Sauce and Cilantro

So very good... I was a little wary because you make a sauce out of sesame oil, fish and soy sauce, cilantro and red chili. I tasted the sauce on its own and it wasn't very good... But once you put a little of the crispy beef in a cold lettuce leaf and drizzle on a small amount of the sauce.... AMAZING. One of the best dishes we have ever made. We paired it with an "easy" fried rice that was chock-full of veggies. I don't have a calorie count for this one since it's a Gordon Ramsey recipe but similar dishes are around 600-800. That would be with a large portion of rice. Something to note... the dish is a little on the rich side... SO much flavor. It won't go into our regular rotation but I can't wait to have it again!

TableTop Fun: Fleet

A game about Canadian Fishing Fleets... only sold in the US. :|

From BoardGameGeek:

In the northwest corner of Nunavut, Canada, a formerly inaccessible bay off of the Arctic Ocean has become reachable through a secret inlet. Untouched by the hands of time and fed by both the ocean and warm fresh water springs, Ridback Bay is teeming with sea life. A remote, timeless bayside village is now being inundated by entrepreneurs awaiting the influx of the world's greatest fisherman to harvest this plentiful bounty. The docks and warehouses are being revitalized, and now it is time to begin the real adventure. Go build your Fleet and become master of the high seas!

It's basically an auction strategy card game. I didn't think that I would enjoy bidding but I do - except when Ian is involved. Me: I'll start the bidding at $4 on Char. Ian: I bid $15. :| Ridiculous! A fishing fleet is pretty simple theme but the artwork does it justice. It's one of my top five games at the moment.

Emma going after pieces as always. :)
