Muskoka Bound

Ian and I are headed to Lake Rosseau tomorrow - extending my BrittanyBirthdayWeekendofFun to this weekend. I've wanted to go back up north for awhile. Especially now with the trees having changed and hopefully still retaining their leaves. Low amount of bugs and just overall beauty. The last time was with the in-laws to Algonquin. While it was fun and I saw a moose, it was hot and bug filled. This time it will be cold which usually means less bugs! Lake Rosseau is a little less than 4 hours away from here.. in the land of a million little lakes.

We are staying at the The Rosseau Resort by JW Marriott.

The room has a fireplace and a good view of the lake.

We're going to try to geocache using my new handheld GPS! It's ready and loaded with a few geocaches in the area. Most of them near the hotel are micro. The micro ones were impossible to find using the iPhone's GPS. I'm hoping for better results with the handheld.

Ian and I are still getting over the virus that Max so kindly gave us. I've developed a wicked cough that I hope will be gone soon. Ian's cough is still awful but not as frequent. We're both high on inhalers 90% of the time. So this weekend might just be full of rest. But rest with room service~

Joke Gift

This was kind of a joke gift given to me by my mother-in-law... She knows how much I love mosquitoes. :P But it's actually an excellent mug for soup!

Via Virginia (Mugs #47-49)

My sister came up for my birthday and brought with her *3* mugs! She got the Houston one and then a friend of hers has a husband that goes to Korea monthly. Crazy.

Shrimp On The Barbie (Mugs #45 & 46)

Before I get flack... this is a Dumb and Dumber reference. Anyway, I got these 2 mugs - one from Mirjana and the other from my boss, Michele. Love the hat!

Orlando Flo Rida (Mug #44)

Thanks to my co-worker Divya. She got me this back in August on a trip to Disney World!

New Countdown!

Now that my 30th birthday has come and gone... a new countdown is up! It is roughly 46 days until our usual Christmas visit - this time in Virginia! Can't wait...

BrittanyBirthdayWeekendofFun

I had a great Birthday Weekend of Fun. It was wonderful to turn 3old with my family. Usually my birthday falls before or after a family visit but this time I spent the actual day with them. It reminds me of a quote I once read...
"In truth a family is what you make it. It is made strong, not by number of heads counted at the dinner table, but by the rituals you help family members create, by the memories you share, by the commitment of time, caring, and love you show to one another, and by the hopes for the future you have as individuals and as a unit." -- Marge Kennedy
It started with a very eventful Friday. Max needed to be taken to the walk-in clinic and because of perfect timing... Mom and I were turned into ambulance chasers. After a little late night in the ER, he was basically fine.

This was a common sight:

The day of my birthday was perfect. Perfect weather - cold and rainy. We went out to breakfast and then headed to Synders Family Farm to pick some pumpkins. Before we left, I set up the mummy with Derek.

The pumpkin patch had sleds to carry your pumpkins... Cooper was more than happy to carry it when it was empty!

And Max was more than happy to be carried by Ian!

He was less than thrilled to take a picture with Cooper and a tractor...

Ian had kept it a secret up until the night before that we were going to the Cambridge Mill for my birthday dinner. It is a such a great restaurant. Great food. Great views. Boys agree.

Ian and I clean up nice.

Mom, Kamber and I in the usual "girls' picture.

Afterwards, Ian surprised me by having cake and presents back at the house. I can't remember the last time that I had a cake for my birthday. Pretty cool. Max clearly approved of the ice cream cake!

The last two days have been filled with relaxation because everyone is sick. Kamber took a picture of my favorite road.

She also can freehand pictures like no one else! I printed out some small images and she was able to trace and carve a few pumpkins for me. This is my favorite:

Even though Ian is really sick, I'm feeling sick, and I have to remove the pox from my house, it was a fantastic weekend. Thank you to everyone who made it so. 30 has had a good start. :)

Ian's Idea Of A Game

Ian came to me this morning with a great idea!

Ian: "You know how we hate picking up leaves? Well we are going to have a couple little ones here. We can make it a game! Okay, so everyone runs around collecting as many leaves as possible. Then they bring them back and they COUNT them. So that way it's also a LEARNING game."

:|

Me: "Yeah, that's called slave labor."

:P

Beneath The 10 Day Mark

Freaking out! Family descending on house in less than 10 days!! AHHHHHHHHHHHHH...

I'm okay. Ian and I are only freaking out a little bit. The main reason is that we currently do not have a delivery date for the bed we ordered. I'm hoping that it will be resolved or even delivered by Friday. /crossfingers The weather is going to be cold much to the dismay of my mother. But we have promised to turn on the heat and will probably run the fireplace. We do not have a firepit for outside - sad - but we can at least view the pretty backyard from inside the warm house!

This weekend is the Dry Run Thanksgiving. We are actually having it tomorrow. Ian's parents will be running away for the weekend and we will also be celebrating the birth of the baby Drew. Seen here:

What a guy.... Anyway, I'm restraining myself from making it look like Fall threw up on our house.  I think I was somewhat successful... Ian might say otherwise.... :|

Sad Mums

This is my pathetic attempt to repair a patchy mum. Hoping I didn't break the main stem while trying to maneuver it! :|

Coop Scoop: Stupid Milestones

/sniffle

He's all like "Hey... I'm all grown up and stuff". Booo...
