Strasburg Road Extension

Link: The Record - Bed and breakfast threatened by Strasburg Road...

It's unfortunate but I think this lady needs to admit that she no longer lives 'out in the country'. This is less than 5 minutes from our house (down my favorite road). They should be concerned with the wildlife of course... but this area needs more road infrastructure for sure. It takes far too long to get anywhere near civilization sometimes. The extension of Strasburg Road would certainly make it easier until we start getting shops and restaurants on this end of the city.

Yay Seahawks...

...anything to get under the skin of the Jets... :)

Spring Cleaning Weekend

We made an honest effort to do yard work this weekend... but it just didn't happen. The food coma we experienced from The Cambridge Mill was brunch was just too much. We ended up taking a nap instead. Ian would probably point out that we needed the batteries for the mower and weed whacker to charge.... *coughexcusescough*

This upcoming weekend is going to be Spring Cleaning Weekend! I can barely contain my excitement... yes I'm being serious. I'm making up my lists this week. Saturday is yard work - rake the gravel from the grass, mow, trim edges, fertilize and water. We have to rake up the gravel because the driveway apron hasn't been done yet. Gravel had gotten mixed up in the snow shoveling and thrown in the grass. I can't wait until the apron is done and the top coat of the street is finished. Sunday will be house work - going through our clothes, cleaning the outside windows, organize the garage and maybe the basement. Ian is less than thrilled about Spring Cleaning Weekend... but I'm sure he'll come around. =P

We've been approached by another neighbor to do a land survey and put up a fence. I know it's common... but I feel fencing is a weird situation. No one wants to step on anyone's toes. Everyone has an opinion. We also discovered that if you don't do it first... or if people on all sides of you aren't on the same page... you'll end up with multiple types of fences. The guy behind us has put up an ugly deck/fence with lattice work on top. It's been nice to have that little bit of privacy... but it's just plain ugly (don't even get me started on the CHEAP brown solar 'lights' he just installed on each post). Now the neighbor on our other side is starting the fence process because every person up the street is. Hopefully it's a design that we can repeat on our street side... otherwise we're going to end up with 3 different fence types in our backyard. There will have to be lots of bushes and crawling vines! :)

Muchas Gracias! (Mug #29)

My co-worker Mirjana had a trip down to Mexico.. and guess what she brought me back?? :)

I was shocked because it's not on my list. I did some searching and apparently there are a lot that are missing from the list I just created. Also, I think this is the first mug where I don't know the city name at all. Awesome! :) Thanks Mirjana!!!

Updated: Starbucks Mug-pocalypse

There are 7 new mugs... although only 6 are pictured:

  • Banff - Brought to me by my co-worker Manny.
  • Denver, Orange County, Colorado, and Chicago - Shockingly purchased by my co-worker Nadine. She had one of those crazy airmiles trips that had a billion stops.
  • Vancouver Island - Bought by yet another co-worker, Eric. He was my partner in crime on the iPad project at work. So I'm forever grateful.
  • New Orleans (not pictured) - Picked up by Ian's Uncle Joe and Aunt Deborah.
I've created a page up at the top for our mug collection (mouse under the blog title if you don't see a toolbar!). Our collection is up to 28 mugs! <3 Thanks for everyone's help in building it! :)

New Countdown

I have updated the countdown to be another birthday... Ian's 26th! <3

$11 Sweater

Tonight I happened to wander onto the Lane Bryant website. Guess what popped up?? NEW FLAT RATE SHIPPING TO CANADA! :)

I'm definitely not in the market for new clothes. Maybe some day... but right now I am able to walk out of some pants and things fit just a little more loose. I did browse through the outlet section... and found a sweater that was normally $89, on sale for $11. I love it. Couldn't turn it down. Can't wear it until next winter... and hopefully I don't look like a stop sign.

Wooden Spoon Trick

I read some where that if you put a wooden spoon over a pot of boiling water it will keep it from going over. So far it's working!
