Please Leave A Message After The Beep...

Ian and I are hitting the road! Time to make a trip to Cooperton to meet the Mayor of Cooperville. A few days with Mr. Awesome himself and the fam before we head back up to New York to see Erik at LDRS 2009 (Rocket Launch). Until then... check out the little man we'll be seeing!

    Muskrat Love

Yesterday I headed to work and was going to get stuck in massive traffic. So I got off at the nearest exit... if I had gone past it the next exit isn't until right before my work. I took the back country roads that run parallel to the highway. I came down a little hill and spotted what we have now determined was a muskrat. He was a cute little bugger... carrying a branch in his mouth. He calmly waited for cars to pass and then motored in front of my car that thankfully I slowed and stopped for him to cross. Kind of like "coming through... coming through... I got things to do people... nests to build..." Lol.

    Our Wedding: My Dress

I have brought home my dress. I tried it on at the bridal shop and couldn't stop smiling. It fits perfectly (actually it's a little big on me but I'll get it resized later this year)... It's the kind of wedding dress I've always wanted. Something really simple but beautiful. I brought it home in a dress bag and had to hang it in the guest bathroom until I find a better place. Ian refuses to look at it... he says it's bad enough he can see the shape of the dress. I'm absolutely giddy when I think about it. Anyway, for now my dress gets to hang out with Mr. Bubbles.

Point Me To The Nearest Fault Line

I have an irrational fear of of earthquakes. Multiple times over the past year or so... I wake up thinking there is an earthquake. The first time that it happened I jumped out of bed, screamed at the top of my lungs for Ian to get to the doorway and was absolutely convinced it was an earthquake. There wasn't one of course... Ever since then... I jerk awake when the bed shakes a lot (Ian). I'm convinced in my head that the building is shaking and that we're going to die. Thankfully for Ian I've stopped jumping out of bed and screaming. My heart practically bursts because it's beating so fast and it takes awhile to calm down. And yes, I know that I live in Canada and not in California... and yes, I know that the nearest fault line is probably in Alberta... But my brain doesn't seem to care. So unless I duct tape Ian to the bed to keep him from moving, how do I stop jerking awake multiple times a week?

    Spontaneous Stress Explosion

Just a quick note that I might spontaneously explode at some point over the next 2 weeks. I'm developing training materials for a system, testing the system, making modifications to it and organizing training schedules and logistics. All of this needs to be done technically by the end of next week as the US goes on vacation June 29th through July 6th. On July 6th, there is a meeting that lasts the whole week in downtown Toronto. During the week I will be in Mississauga training different groups and then on that Friday in Toronto training the group from the meeting. The following Monday the system goes live and my head explodes. Yay. This also does not include my normal job functions and special preparations for the meeting in July. /sigh

    Our Wedding: Planning Update

The wedding planning continues of course. Lots of little details getting set in place. We are lucky that we are having a small wedding and are able to make the details very special. I would *LOVE* to share the details on here but since most of the people who read this are attending... no can do. =P Thankfully I have a couple people I know that aren't attending so I can discuss my brainwaves with them. I wasn't sure how involved with wedding planning Ian would be... But he has jumped into it as much as a guy can~ Thankfully he gets the concept and feel that we are going for and I think it will turn out nicely.

When I started planning in the beginning of the year I thought I was way ahead of myself... but now with about 7 months left... I'm really glad I started early. I'm finding more of the things I truly want because I'm taking my time with it. Etsy has been the most wonderful resource for me. Any idea that pops into my head I'm sure I can find the exact item or similar on Etsy. I will try to post the Save the Dates as soon as everyone has received theirs. Maybe even get my photographer Amanda to take a couple nice pictures of what she receives. =) The person who created our Save the Dates came from Etsy and brought to life exactly what I had thought up. Can't wait to send them out!

    Grand Trunk Trail

On Saturday, Ian and I tried one of the many trails here in Cambridge. It is called the Grand Trunk Trail. It runs parallel to the Grand River which is pretty close to our house.

This is what most of the trail looks like...

This tiny trail led us down to the river bank. The Grand River is so shallow in some parts that birds in the water look like they are walking on it. It's pretty wide but very shallow and slow moving.

About halfway up the trail we found the ruins of an old house. Pretty interesting but kind of creepy at the same time.

This picture doesn't really do justice to this waterfall. It's really steep and there is a short but very slanted bridge you have to take to get over it. It's called Devil's Creek and runs into the Grand.

Here is a shot of the river itself. It was overcast and a little bit windy but pretty nice weather (others would not agree I'm sure!).

We saw lots of wildlife hopping and flying around the trail. I saw my first cardinal which was pretty cool. Can you see a squirrel in this picture?

    Yeah... neither can I.

    It Can Be Done!

Thanks to my wonderful future wedding photographer {Amanda Rae} for showing me that brides do wear glasses during their ceremonies. It's not totally unheard of. =P

    Saturday's Park Visit

This weekend Ian and I ventured to Churchill Park which is just up the road from us. They have lots of geese, ducks and even a couple deer. We fed them some hamburger buns and watched them dive under the water a bunch Really nice day.

Ian taped the baby geesies relocate their puffball pile. It's counting with baby geesies time!!!

Ian also caught a duck on camera. He was very suspicious. He just KNEW someone was watching him.

    My Nephew - No Explanation

    Extremely Random & Extremely Awesome

I found this site called My Milk Toof. It's the story of a baby tooth that comes home after living with the Tooth Fairy. I started reading from the beginning... it's hilarious. "When there's a lady around, the seat goes down." I love it! Oh and to explain the picture below... wait for it... they're teething!!

My Nephew - The Baby Seal

Coop has almost mastered crawling. As you will see towards the end of the video, he tries the "baby seal" method.

    My Brain Is Toast

I just realized that my visit with my new doctor last week... didn't include a big discussion on my asthma. That could probably be because I didn't even write down on my list of medications that I was taking albuterol!!! >< Seriously, I need to check my brain. I'm not sure I still have one.

    Twlight: New Moon Trailer

I recently watched the first movie in the Twilight series. It lived up to my expectations... silly teenage emo angst filled scenes... some bad acting thrown in. But I liked it nonetheless. Ian thanked me after I told him I had watched it without him. Either way I'm looking forward to the next installment. Hopefully the acting improves. (Confession: I mainly watch it for the shots of rain-soaked Washington. We got a taste of some pretty crazy rain here this weekend. I would like it a lot better if it did that the whole month though.)

    Mr. Waffles Vs. The Bee

This is Waffles. He had a little encounter with a bee. I thought it was a sad picture. Speaking of sad... UP is sad! I loved it and it's hysterically funny but 10 minutes in I'm bawling my eyes out. It's got to be the saddest Pixar movie I've ever seen. Really funny but slightly depressing. I want to find the short that played before the movie. So freaking cute. It's about these storks that fly up to clouds to get babies created. The pretty white clouds create all the cute creatures... kitties, babies, puppies, etc. There is a dark cloud that creates some of the more dangerous creatures like little baby rams that like to headbutt, a porcupine and an alligator. Anyway, it's extremely funny and I have to find it! Pixar needs to release all of their short movies on dvd.
